Make a few notes to share at your dog’s next appointment—or sooner if you are concerned.
Getting going
Notice rising, walking, stairs, play, and whether your dog seems more hesitant than usual.
Settling down
Note changes in sleep, nighttime waking, pacing, and where your dog chooses to rest.
Joining in
Pay attention to familiar games, meals, greetings, and everyday interactions.
Bring the whole routine to the appointment.
Food and water habits, activity, toileting, vision, hearing, and medication use all help describe an older dog’s day. Bring a list of products and medicines rather than assuming daily-care products cannot overlap. AAHA’s senior-care guidance explains the value of a full history.
A change worth noting is not a reason to expect the worst. It is a reason to make the next conversation more informed.

Is a restless night always a brain-aging issue?
No. A website or product name cannot identify why your dog is awake. Share changes in movement, toileting, sleep, and behavior with your veterinarian.
Do I need both a mobility and a senior product?
Not automatically. Start with the purpose of each product, the existing routine, and your veterinarian’s advice. The smallest useful routine is a good place to begin.
